Over the Fence edition by Melanie Moreland Contemporary Romance eBooks
This is the first book by this author that I have read, and I read a LOT of contemporary romance novels. Melanie Moreland is now one of my favourites. This is such a lovely, heart-warming story. Perfect for a rainy weekend wrapped up indoors. I loved it, and even though I finished this book a little while ago, the characters and their story have lingered with me, like the memory of a sweet dream.
Not the usual alpha hero but a stronger, more well-rounded character who is likeable and authentic; someone I could actually imagine knowing. However, it was Kourtney, the heroine of this book, who left an indelible impression on me; her gorgeous personality, genuine humanity and intense struggle to grow out of her abusive past. I cried for her, wanted to leap to her defence, cheered her on and wished she were real so I could write to her and tell her "You go girlfriend!",
A HEA was never more deserved than in this story.
I would give it five stars but (and this is a personal preference only) I also like a lot of "laugh out loud" humour in the books I read. Over The Fence was gently humorous and chock-full of emotion.

Over the Fence edition by Melanie Moreland Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
This is the excellent story telling that I've come to expect from Melanie Moreland. The characters are multi-dimensional and the story unfolds beautifully. I quickly became invested in the outcome of this romance and the characters had me wrapped around their fingers. I love that it took some time for the characters to actually meet face-to-face. This made them get to know each other and become attracted to each other as individuals before any physical attributes were added (or subtracted) from the equation. This story showed us how hurtful we can be to each other and also the capacity we have to be an amazing and forgiving force for everyone in our lives.
This review is part review of the book and part Thank You to author Melanie Moreland. I’ll start with the book, Over The Fence is absolutely beautiful. The story is sweet, romantic, heartbraking at times, funny, witty and well written. This book Touch my life in a way I cannot put into words, Over The Fence is now one of my favorite books, and it will stay with me for a long time. In a society of body shaming, selfies and judging each other on the surface, it’s so good to read a book where the story is based on the characters of the hero and heroine and not by their appearances.
Over the Fence is a feel good romance with just the smallest amount of angst that a story needs!!! Nathan and Kourtney's romance gives you all the feels and of course it ends in a HEA, Melanie Moreland Style!!!! The first few chapters were kinda witty and nice. She was building the mystery as to why Kourtney didn't want to meet Nathan. But, soon after they meet, all Kourtney seems to be doing is cry. The story never progresses and the author hammers the same thing over and over. There are no other characters in the book other than Kourtney and Nathan. All they do is sit inside and eat or talk. .. it got boring so quickly. Disappointed!
I enjoyed this book immensely! This book is so well balanced and solidly well written that it was a pure joy to read. This book call to the Everyman/woman in us as Nathan and Kourtney could be anyone we know- including ourselves. The build up is sweet and slow, but not too slow and not too sweet. We get to know bits and pieces of not only their lives, but their personalities and appearance in such a way that it keep your constant attention. There is no huge drama that eclipses their journey together, and again, their relationship is a steady but slow build-up. When we get the final description of Nathan (from himself) I immediately thought of Domnhall Gleeson (did anyone else?).
The other thing that was impressive was that every chapter but for one was written in Nathan's POV. Not any easy thing for most woman to do. It is generally hard to write well a man's pov if you are a woman and visa-versa, but this was very nicely done.
Awesome read, and highly recommended.
This was a really sweet story about two people who are closed off and alone. It's told almost entirely from Nathan's POV. Nathan is kind of a loner, not letting anyone get close to him. When he gets a new neighbor next door and smells her cooking, he strikes up conversation, gets a plate of food and they start up conversation all without even seeing each other. I really enjoyed this story and how Nathan and Kourtney met. There were a lot of things to like about this one, it was sweet and the second half had some really good sexy scenes. Nathan was a good guy but had secrets. Kourtney hasn't had an easy life and she has self-esteem issues. She's short and curvy and was made fun of her whole life. At times, her insecurities were frustrating and the story did drag on at times but overall I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
This is my last book by Melanie Moreland that I have in my "stash". I am officially out of magic to read. Ms. Moreland was wonderful to publish this book in paperback so I want to thank her for that. The primary characters in this gem were amazingly fresh. I LOVED the story. It was quirky and had this little air of mystery. I absolutely love the creativity shown by this author. Each of the books I have had the pleasure of reading has been fresh and creative. I would most definitely love to have more from this couple. I thought the epilogue was sheer genius. Please continue this great work and I hope I will have the opportunity to read more of these treasures! denise bailey
